Why this domain
We had a wonderful host company. We had it for years and years. They gave great service whenever we needed help. The a company bought them out. Still pretty good service not as good, but good. No transition issues. We stayed.
Then this second company is bought out. The service is horrible. The transition is horrible. We’re in the middle of an event. We edit our event to cover all necessary updates. The RSVP works perfectly. We test it again. Yes, it works.
Then this new company decided to update our system which means our RSVP doesn’t work. We hire a tech person who tells up the new host is doing an upgrade and we have to wait four days for the update to take place. Then we can test our RSVP and see if it still works.
Great! All of our media has suggested people sign up through our website RSVP and now we have no idea who tried and was unsuccessful, or who tried and was successful, but we got no notification of their sign up.
We never want to be beholden to a change in service for our specific websites because they were the “free domain” you get when signing up.
Hence, we now have a domain that we can walk away from or take with us if we choose, but all other domains are in safe keeping with a domain holder. The domain holder is not our host company.
I hope you enjoyed this rant. It is unlikely anyone will see it, but at least you know why this crazy domain.
